Water Heaters in Windsor

Water Heaters for Windsor homes

Windsor's homes range from early-1900s brick houses with radiators in Walkerville and the older core to post-war bungalows and newer subdivisions in the east and south ends. When a Windsor home's old furnace is replaced with a high-efficiency model, the water heater is often left alone in a chimney that's now too large for it. That can cause venting and condensation problems, so we look at the water heater whenever we change the furnace in an older home.

What's included

Tank and tankless water heater installation, replacement and repair, including high-efficiency and power-vented models. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

• Conventional gas tanks
• Power-vented tanks
• Tankless (on-demand)
• Combi boilers
• Sizing.
• Venting.
• Gas supply.
• Safety.
• Removal.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main water heaters page.

Local conditions in Windsor

Windsor's air conditioners log more hours than most in Ontario, and many older homes have water heaters sharing aging chimneys. Regular maintenance and a look at venting whenever equipment changes keep both running safely.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for water heaters in Windsor, get clear answers to these before signing:

• Is a tank or tankless unit the better fit for my household?
• What venting changes are needed?
• Is my gas line large enough for a tankless unit?
• Will you remove and dispose of the old tank?

Permits and licensing

Building permits in Windsor are issued by the City of Windsor's Building Services department. Some HVAC work, such as new ductwork in renovations or changes that affect the building structure, may need a permit, while gas appliance installations must be done by a TSSA-registered contractor and electrical work by a licensed electrical contractor. We confirm what applies to your project during planning.
